As it turned out, this is an issue only if your Windows username (and thus, the user folder) has a space in its name. The same is true for the autostart parameter resetting itself with every start. I've gone through the whole bug reporting process with Spotify support and they've acknowledged this as a valid bug. Hopefully a fix is in the works. I can't believe Microsoft takes so much control away from the user. I don't want your Microsoft Spotify app. I want the app from Spotify's website. I can totally understand why people pirate your OS now, you don't care about the user at all. It is so frustrating to deal with this when I PAID for this operating system to WORK. Both Spotify and Windows 10 are completely up to date on my laptop (but no Windows beta features). I should perhaps note that I don't know when this started. The last time I opened my Spotify app on my laptop had been months ago—I usually use it only from my phone. (It may even have been in 2019.) It worked back then, though. Microsoft will offer 120% of the value of your unused pre-paid Groove Music Pass as store credit to spend at the Microsoft Store. This offer is valid until December 31, 2018. Spotify is the world’s no. 1 music streaming service and thankfully we have an app in the Microsoft Store, all thanks to Microsoft’s desktop bridge technology Centennial which allows existing Win32 program to convert into a Store app. You’ll barely notice any visual differences between Spotify Win 32 program and the Store app.
Enter Spotify Xpotify. Xpotify is basically a new Spotify client but the fun fact is that it’s a PWA(Progressive Web App) that offers feels more native than the Official Spotify app on Microsoft Store. Xpotify speaks the language of Windows 10!
Didn’t understand the metaphor? With Xpotify you can create and pin Live Tiles for each artist in the Start Menu, you can customize albums, also, you can switch to a Mini-View mode, and most importantly, you will find Fluent Design system in the app, giving you a native experience. Below is a summary of the functionalities of the app.
- Mini-View support
- Add artists to the Start menu
- Fluent Design
- Integration with the multimedia bar
- Integration with the taskbar
- Support for Spotify Free and Spotify Premium accounts
It is worth noting that Spotify already has a Progressive Web App(which is not available on Microsoft Store) and the all-new Xpotify is based on the original PWA. You can download Xpotify on your Windows 10 PC from below link.
